Countdown: 8!

11:57 pm - Jason G. - Commentary

8? WTF Mr. JCG3!?!? Weren’t we down to the 3 in the whole counting-down thing?

Yes, my friendly blog audience… We were at “3”, and I was just checking to make sure you were paying attention…

Countdown: 4!

11:56 pm - Jason G. - Commentary

4 more minutes!  Jumpin’ jimminy…  the West Wing featured the abbreviation “POTUS” in the pilot episode way back in 1999.  Back when the idea of a democratic president didn’t seem so foreign, the Left Wing…  err…  I mean the West Wing showcased a bunch of young liberals running the country.  Now, that’s what I call entertainment.

Disclaimer: I am a fan of the West Wing and think that Steven Soderbergh’s genius was so strong in the early years of West Wing that he should be given a special presidential waiver to be able to continue using cocaine as long as he continues producing TV shows.  I also believe he never would have been busted for coke if the West Wing was about a Republican White House…

Countdown: 5!

11:55 pm - Jason G. - Commentary

Five minutes left…  Those of you who have watched a TV, read a newspaper, or blogged on the internet would know that our recently departed President Gerald Ford was the 38th President of the United States.  For a follow-up question, what TV drama series recently introduced the public to the abbreviation “POTUS” (President of the United States)?

Countdown: 6!

11:54 pm - Jason G. - Commentary

Six more minutes left of 2006.  Let’s do another discussion topic…  this one slightly more mainstream than Belarus’s existence…  Who was the 38th president of the United States of America?

Countdown: 7!

11:53 pm - Jason G. - Commentary

7 minutes to go…  And, yes kids, Belarus is a real country.  The CIA says it is.  Just because it’s not in a Borat movie doesn’t mean that the country isn’t real…

Countdown: 8!

11:52 pm - Jason G. - Commentary

Wow, those minutes are going by much slower than I thought…  let’s see what we can do before the next minute…  Here’s a topic: is the country of Belarus a real country?  Discuss amongst yourselves…

Countdown: 9!

11:51 pm - Jason G. - Commentary

9 more minutes to go…

Countdown: 10!

11:50 pm - Jason G. - Commentary

It’s only 10 minutes now until the new year is upon us, and I’m looking forward to 2007 in a lot of different ways.  To kick off the celebration, count down with me to the new year…

Nifong’d – the next Punk’d?

11:47 am - Jason G. - Commentary

From the Houston Chronicle:

We can celebrate the addition of a new verb to our American lexicon — “to Nifong.” …Now we can “Nifong” someone when we want to trump up criminal charges based on flimsy evidence allegedly for political purposes. In short, when we want to screw up someone’s life.

The Carolinas

6:45 am - Jason G. - Commentary

Think of North and South Carolina as the hicks?

If North Carolina and South Carolina were a separate country, it would have the 12th largest economy in the world, with over $397 billion in gross domestic product. This would place it just below Australia in terms of GDP.
